Log Humping

Made you look.

Happy Hump Day! Today, as my Hook Me Up! subscribers already know, we only have a couple things on tap. First off, the reminder that my Back to School Sale is in Day Two of Three, so don't delay -- get The Night Beat for $0.99 in any and all eformats, including Amazon Kindle, Nook, and Sony, Kobo, PDF, etc. Sale ends tomorrow/Thursday night, so don't miss out!

Next up, as many of you know, I teach a course on how (and why) to write log lines. Well, the Log Line Blog asked me to do a guest post, and since it's run by awesome author and Alien Collective Member in Very Good Standing Lynn Crain, how could I say no? You're right, I couldn't. So, check it out and give the Log Line Blog some AC love.

Last, a reminder that I'll be at CopperCon this weekend. Hope to see some of you there, and if you're on the fence, the hotel is lovely, the people are nice, you get to hang with moi and other cool authors, and the cost is not onerous. Sure, it's hot out here, but we don't go outside -- we stay indoors in air conditioned comfort while discussing all the things we love (books, movies, TV shows, gaming) while in like-minded company.

So, until next time, get your (incredibly cheap) copy of The Night Beat, enjoy the downward slide towards the weekend, and let's be readers out there!

Love,
Gini

Yesterday I mentioned that I had an announcement for today. And, as my Hook Me Up! subscribers already know I do, I do indeed.

For today, Wednesday, and Thursday this week ONLY, you can get an ecopy of The Night Beat for...wait for it...wait for iiittt...only $0.99. Yes, you read that right! And that's for any and all eformats -- Amazon, Smashwords, B&N, and all the others, too.

But this sale is really ending Thursday night, so don't delay -- get your sale priced copy of The Night Beat today!

Gone But Not Forgotten

Happy Monday! Well, I've been gone, but I hope you haven't forgotten me! *sniffle* Connectivity issues at the 'rents' house in SoCal prevented a lot of interaction while I was getting the chicklet settled into USC (Go Trojans! Brought to you by Len and Kyle.)

But I'm back...at least, for a few days. Then it's off to CopperCon...but more on that later. Let's get caught up on goings ons whilst I was away, shall we? We shall.

First up, check out the awesome contest running over at Bibliognome. For the price of a haiku, you can get entered to win some amazing prizes, featuring coolness from moi, Carolyn Crane, Anton Strout, and Beth Revis. Truly, you don't want to miss out! Contest runs through August 31st, so enter today!

Speaking of winning, remember that there's an ARC of Alien vs. Alien up for grabs at Goodreads. Yes, you'll get another chance at more of them later, but if you want to increase your odds, hit Goodreads and get entered today.

Speaking of winning in a different way, if you've missed it somehow, check out this hilarious video, "We're NASA and We Know It" sent to me by alert Alien Collective Member in Very Good Standing Shawn. And let's not forget to have a moment of silence and a lot of reflection of amazing accomplishments for the passing of Neil Armstrong, who went to join ACE's collective consciousness last week.

Now, onto some reviews. See what boeklogboek and Mixed Book Bag think of The Night Beat. Then check out Heroes and Heartbreakers and chime in on what you read when you've finished with the latest great book from Patricia Briggs.

After that, head over to The Night Bazaar, where I'm running the yap about How to Con for Fun and Profit.

As mentioned earlier, I'll be at CopperCon this coming Labor Day Weekend. And I have my schedule, so if you're in or around the Greater Phoenix Metro Area, come by and hang out with me and other awesome authors like Marsheila Rockwell, Jordan Summers, Ari Marmell, and Saul Garnell. This year's con appears to be a Night Owl's Delight, too...and so, I give you: My Schedule

Friday, August 31
7-8pm How NOT to Get Published
9-10pm Creating Alien Characters
Saturday, September 1
1-2pm It's a Weird World of Contemporary Fantasy
4-5pm Autograph Session
6-7pm Are Space Adventure Stories Still Viable?
Sunday, September 2
4-5pm Guilty Pleasures
7-8pm Reboots: Do They Work?
9-10pm Writing Erotica
Monday, September 3
1-1:30pm Reading (and yes, it might be a reading from Alien vs. Alien...you never can tell...)
3-4pm It Started With Lovecraft

And that's just MY schedule. So, don't miss out, come to CopperCon this weekend and have a blast!

There's a lot more coming this week, including an exciting sales opportunity (starting tomorrow!), but I'll leave you with this news: There's something starting next week, with lots of winning attached to it, so check out Invasion of the Blog Tour and get ready for some winning fun!

Until next time, peace out, my li'l gangstas and let's be readers out there!

Love,
Gini

California, Here I Come

Sing it! Why? Well, as my Hook Me Up! subscribers already know, because I'm heading to SoCal to take the chicklet to law school (USC, go Trojans! Len and Kyle require that I say that every time I mention this.) But before I go, thought I'd catch you up on some things.

First off, because I just can't leave you without a chance to win something, somewhere, and somehow, there might be a Goodreads contest or two going on right now, and one of the prizes might be a copy of The Night Beat and one might be for an ARC of Alien vs. Alien. I'm not saying for sure. ;-D

Yes, there WILL be a Hook Me Up! exclusive contest for Alien vs. Alien ARCs (coming whenever I actually get them, which won't be for a couple of months), in addition to the one at Goodreads. And yes, I expect to have more than one copy up for grabs. But for those of you who like to cover all your bases, go forth and click the button over at Goodreads to get yet another chance to win.

Next, head over to GReads! and get to know the blogger behind My 5 Monkeys a little better. Then check out where Loki's gotten to now, on the My 5 Monkeys quest for Alien vs. Alien.

Once I'm back from SoCal, it's laundry in, laundry out, and then I'll be at CopperCon from August 31 through September 3. Don't miss out on a chance to see the me, along with a lot of other awesome authors, artists, and creative types in an intimate atmosphere that won't cost you and arm and a leg. (Just fingers, if zombies are taking tickets at the door.)

Is that it? Shockingly, yes. I do plan to try to check in while I'm gone, but Twitter and Facebook are probably your best bets for finding out where I am (not at home) and what I'm doing (things).

Know that I shall miss you all while I'm gone. So, get down with your bad selves in my absence, keep the home fires burning (so to speak), and let's be readers out there. Peace out, my li'l gangstas, I'll catch you on the flip side.

Love,
Gini

Spacey (and Not Kevin) Update

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend and we all survived Monday. As my Hook Me Up! subscribers already know, my weekend was great, and had a nice time with some Alien Collective Members in Very Good Standing coming to visit at my signing at The Poisoned Pen. Special shout out to Alexa from Pages of Forbidden Love ( http://www.pages-of-forbidden-love.com/ ) for coming to see the me ON her birthday (and Johnny from PoFL was there, too, but it wasn't his birthday, so no special shout out for you, my man. ;-D)

There's lots going on, but first, an announcement. It's done, and it's in, and it has a pub date. No, no, not Alien vs. Alien, which was done and in and has had a pub date for quite some time (Dec. 4, 2012, pre-ordering now would not be considered too soon). Nor Alien in the House, which has a pub date (April 2013) but is not yet done and in. Nope, I'm talking about the second installment of my Martian Alliance series -- what started with The Royal Scam now continues in Three Card Monte! Yes! Yes, finally! Three Card Monte will release from Musa Publishing on October 5, 2012. And, yes, for those inquiring minds who want to know, this one is novella (versus novelette) length, so more story bang for your ever-lovin' crew of the Hummingbird buck.

As I'm sure many of you have noticed, there've been many updates and such to the website. For those of you wondering where your Sightings in the Wild are, I promise they are on the list. And for those of you who do spot the bookie wookies in the wild, please keep on sending your pics in. When Team Gini finally gets caught up, it'll all be beautiful, beautiful. Team Gini swears this will be sometime in our near future, but definitely after we've landed a cool SUV robot probe on Mars. (Okay, let's all just TOTALLY GEEK OUT ABOUT THE AWESOME OF THAT for a moment. Or two. Or more.)

In related NASA news, New Horizons is heading to Pluto. What will they find? I'm thinking they'll find that Pluto's really pissed about its demotion from Planet to Thing Floating Around in Space. But whoever's doing the New Horizons update is also calling Pluto a planet. Well and safely played, NASA. Well and safely played. Oh, and Team Gini CONFIRMS that Sightings in the Wild will be updated before New Horizons reaches Pluto. So we're good.

Some of you are patiently (or, not so patiently, depending) waiting to find out who won a copy of both The Night Beat by moi and Skein of Shadows by Marsheila Rockwell. So, without further delay, the winner is: STACY
NOTE: Stacy, you need to send me an email with your full name and email address by Friday, August 10, or the Gods of Random will demand a new sacrifice.

Are you a member of the Science Fiction Book Club? Do you want to have Alexander Outland: Space Pirate by G.J. Koch (yes, moi) in hardback instead of or in addition to the trade paperback or ebook versions? Well, wait no longer! Alexander Outland is now part of the Science Fiction Book Club and is currently a member exclusive!

Next up, some reviews. See what I Smell Sheep thought of The Night Beat, then check out what Mixed Book Bag thought of Alien Diplomacy.

Next see what Calliope's Domain would choose as the top Fictional Worlds she'd love to live in.

In Person Reminder: I'll be at CopperCon over Labor Day Weekend, August 31 through September 3. It's a small, fun con, where you'll really get to meet the authors and other guests beyond just passing, so if you're in or near the Greater Phoenix Metro Area, come on by and spend a weekend with a lot of cool people, moi included.

That's it for today, but never fear, more's always on the way. So have a great day, and let's be readers out there!

Love,
Gini

Thursday's Cravings

Well, hope everyone had a fab July and all y'all are enjoying the start of August. It was a great start for me, because August is a big month in our family. Yesterday, the 1st, was my 25th anniversary of being married to the hubs. (And they said it wouldn't last. No, really, they did.) We celebrated by going out for sushi and watching White Collar and Covert Affairs which were DVRd, and saved for this occasion, from the night before. I know -- we LIVE. The 7th is the chicklet's bday, the 14th is the hubs' bday, and mid-month I take the chicklet to SoCal to start law school. (USC, go Trojans! Len and Kyle totally approve.)

I also spent yesterday finalizing my edits on Alien vs. Alien and getting them to the awesome editor so that AvA can actually release on time (December 4th, yes, start your pre-order engines). So that's why you haven't heard from me for what might seem like a long time (or might seem just right, your mileage may vary). BUT, before I get back to work on Alien in the House, let's get caught up on all that's going on "out there" besides the Olympics.

First off, a reminder that the next stop on my Split Personality Summer Signing Tour will be this Sunday, August 5th, from 2-4pm at The Poisoned Pen in Scottsdale, AZ. I'll be signing Alien Diplomacy, The Night Beat, and Alexander Outland: Space Pirate (as G.J. Koch). I'll also sign whatever else you want, 'cause I'm easy that way. Chocolate had assured me it will be making an appearance, too, so you do NOT want to miss out!

Now, head over to Paranormal Cravings where they've done a full Series Spotlight on the Alien/Katherine "Kitty" Katt series as part of their August Strong Heroines Month, AND where you can win a signed, personalized copy of Alien in the Family.

Speaking of entering to win and The Night Beat, the second half of the Double Kickass Heroines contest to win an ebook copy of both The Night Beat and Skein of Shadows by Marsheila Rockwell is still going strong. Leave a comment on the Blah, Blah, Blah Blog (the post under this one) and get entered to win both books! Contest ends Sunday, August 5th, so don't delay, enter today.

Next, let's look at some reviews. See what A Buckeye Girl Reads thought of The Night Beat, what Journey With Words thought of Touched by an Alien, and, if you can read French :-D what Bananas in the Void thought of Alexander Outland: Space Pirate.

Then, head over to Larissa's Bookish Life to see which fictional worlds she'd most like to live in.

And last but not least, hit The Night Bazaar where yours truly is running the yap about a certain kind of Sin authors worry about perpetrating. (And, since it's moi, you know it's not gonna be a conventional sin. ;-D)

That's it for today, but as always, more's on the way. Hope to see many of you on Sunday, and hope everyone has a great weekend. So, peace out, my li'l gangstas, and let's be readers out there!

Love,
Gini
